DCCI Fall Fling - 2013

Erstellt am: von Longhorn

The first Saturday in October Dickinson Cattle Co holds an annual Customer Appreciation day.

No one is more important than clients who purchase our cattle, semen, equipment, beef and store products. These are great people. Our family, our life, our existence depends on these wonderful people. To say we "like" them is an vast understatement.

We want our friends to be successful. As a result, special speakers, demonstrations of new methods and products are planned. This year demonstrations of educating cattle, mind games, dry runs and slow, well planned cattle handling was taught. Gail Beach demonstrated how to train a riding steer. A presentation of the difference in utility cattle and perception marketing was defined. How to make a non destructible mineral trough. Last year Dr. Keith Berkeley spoke on how to walk through your pasture and check for 20 points that were visual evaluations of herd health. The year before, division of weaned bulls for herd sires, exhibition steers, feeder steers and ropers was demonstrated -- how to make the cut. These are things not taught in magazines. These are things that must be done right.

Each year a Dickinson family member photographs every customer with our gentle steer. This steer has never stepped on any one's toe, poked a horn in their nose or pooped in the drive way. He perfectly minds his manners. Our cowboys build this stage set just for fun photos. Each year we hang one of the new steer mounts that sell in the Longhorns Head to Tail Store for a special photo opportunity. This is what it looks like from the side.

Friends can take their own photos or we take the photos and email them to every person. It is serious to photograph every family, every person in attendance. We gladly do this at no charge for our favorite people. Dela (Dickinson) Lenz took all the photos this year and did a great job.

During the day there is often a line with families waiting to get this special photo.

If you did not attend the DCCI Customer Appreciation day --- I am sorry.

There is always 2014.
